Monopoly Run – Terms and Conditions
1. Definitions
For the purposes of these Terms and Conditions:
- Event: the Monopoly Run organised by the Monopoly Run team
- Organisers: Monopoly Run organisers and authorised volunteers
- Participant: any individual taking part in the event
- Team: a registered group of participants taking part together
- Group Coordinator: the person responsible for registering and managing teams from their organisation or group
- Application: the official Monopoly Run mobile application used during the event
2. Acceptance of Terms
By registering for and participating in the Event, participants and group coordinators agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
Group coordinators are responsible for ensuring that all participants in their teams are aware of and agree to these Terms.
3. Eligibility and Supervision
- Participants must be registered as part of a team through the official registration system.
- Participants under 18 must be supervised by responsible adults in accordance with their organisation’s safeguarding policies.
- Responsibility for supervision, safeguarding, and welfare of participants remains with the group and its leaders at all times.
- The organisers do not provide supervision during the Event.
4. Registration and Payment
- Registration is confirmed once payment is successfully received.
- Payment confirmation acts as confirmation of entry; no separate confirmation will be issued.
- Teams will appear in the registration system once processed.
5. Team Requirements
- Teams must comply with the organisers’ team size and participation rules.
- Teams must remain together during the Event unless instructed otherwise.
- Participants may be substituted within a team prior to the Event, provided team structure rules are maintained.
- The organisers may refuse entry or disqualify teams that do not comply with Event rules.
6. Event Rules and Conduct
- Participants must behave responsibly and respectfully.
- Participants must follow instructions from organisers and volunteers, respect members of the public, obey laws, and act safely.
- The organisers may disqualify or remove participants or teams for unsafe, disruptive, or illegal behaviour.
- The organisers’ decisions regarding rule interpretation, scoring, and disqualification are final.
7. Fair Play and Team Conduct
- Teams must complete the Event in the spirit of fair play.
- Teams must remain together unless explicitly permitted otherwise.
- Teams may be disqualified for gaining unfair advantages, including splitting up to complete locations separately.
8. Technology Misuse and Cheating
- Participants must not manipulate or interfere with the Event Application or scoring.
- GPS spoofing, location manipulation, automation tools, or other methods to gain an unfair advantage are prohibited.
- The organisers may investigate misuse and disqualify participants or teams breaching this rule.
9. Travel and Transport
- Participants are responsible for arranging and paying for all travel during the Event.
- Participants must follow all public transport rules and applicable regulations.
- The organisers are not responsible for delays, cancellations, or disruption to transport services; this will not be grounds for refunds.
10. Safety Requirements
- Participants must take reasonable care for their own safety and the safety of others.
- Participants must obey road safety rules, avoid running in unsafe environments, respect private property, and not enter restricted or unsafe areas.
- Trespassing or unsafe behaviour may result in disqualification.
11. Health and Medical Responsibility
- Participants are responsible for ensuring they are medically fit to participate.
- Participants must carry any required medication or equipment.
- Group leaders are responsible for managing medical needs within their teams.
12. Mobile Application and Technology
- The Event relies on the official Monopoly Run Application.
- Participants must provide a compatible device with sufficient battery life.
- The organisers cannot guarantee uninterrupted app operation or network connectivity.
- Technical failures or connectivity issues are not grounds for refunds.
13. Photography and Media
- Photography and video may be taken during the Event.
- By participating, participants grant permission for these images to be used for promotional purposes.
- Participants wishing to opt out must notify the organisers in advance.
14. Data Protection
Personal information will be used for Event administration and communication.
Data will be processed in accordance with applicable UK data protection laws.
15. Refunds and Cancellations
- Refunds may be requested up until the published refund deadline. A 25% administration fee will be deducted from any refund issued.
- Cancellation after the refund deadline means the organisers cannot provide a refund.
- Refunds are not issued for individual participants withdrawing from a team.
- Entry fees contribute to administration, infrastructure, and materials, many of which are committed in advance.
- If the Event is cancelled after the refund deadline, the organisers may not issue refunds.
15a. Event Materials and Badge Collection
All teams are expected to collect any event materials, including badges, on the day of the Monopoly Run. The organisers will not be able or willing to post out badges after the event.
By registering, participants and group coordinators acknowledge that badges must be collected in person on the day. Failure to collect badges on the day does not entitle participants to a refund.
16. Event Changes or Cancellation
The organisers may make reasonable changes to rules, scoring, locations, timings, or gameplay to ensure safe and fair operation.
17. Instructions from Authorities
- Participants must comply with instructions from organisers, emergency services, transport authorities, or other officials.
- The organisers may modify, suspend, or terminate the Event if required by authorities for public safety or operational reasons.
- Such changes do not entitle participants to a refund.
18. Force Majeure
The organisers are not responsible for cancellation, delay, or alteration due to circumstances beyond their control, including severe weather, transport disruption, public safety concerns, government restrictions, or other unforeseen events.
19. Liability
- Participants take part at their own risk.
- To the fullest extent permitted by law, organisers are not liable for loss, injury, or damage during the Event.
- Nothing excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence or other liability which cannot be excluded by law.
20. Event Capacity
- The organisers may limit the number of participants or teams.
- Entries are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis unless stated otherwise.
21. Lost Property and Personal Items
The organisers are not responsible for personal belongings lost, stolen, or damaged. Participants are responsible for their own property.
This includes, but is not limited to, mobile phones, tablets, smartwatches, cameras, and other electronic devices. Participants should ensure that all electronic devices are securely stored and adequately charged. The organisers will not be held responsible for any loss, theft, damage, or malfunction of such items.
22. Event Communication
Important Event information may be communicated via email, the official website, the Application, or other official channels. Participants and group coordinators are responsible for checking these channels for updates.
23. Interpretation of Rules
The organisers reserve the right to interpret these Terms and Event rules where necessary. Decisions regarding rules, scoring, or participation are final.
24. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
